COVID VISA – Immigration changes for Australia from September and October 2023

Reading Time: < 1 minute

The government announced important updates on August 31 regarding the Pandemic Event Visa (Subclass 408), also known as the Covid Visa in Australia. It is a visa that was created to help students who could not return home during COVID-19 but starting September 2, only people who already have this visa will be able to apply again. However, starting in February 2024, no new applications will be accepted.

IMPORTANT: For those who are still able to apply, you will get a shorter visa, only for six months and will have to pay a fee of $405.

If you currently have a Covid Visa, you can stay in Australia until your visa expires.

Now, if you want to stay in Australia long-term, a student visa might be a better option. Above all, this will be an easier way to demonstrate your genuine desire to live in Australia to follow your vocation by applying for your PR (permanent residence). So don’t wait any longer, write to us now and schedule a consultation with our AVANTI experts.
