Employment contracts in Malta

Reading Time: 2 minutes

Malta is located in Europe, near southern Italy. The country is made up of seven islands in the Mediterranean Sea and is known for its many sunny days a year. This country has 315 km² and about 450,000 inhabitants live there.

Working in Malta always involves the formalization of an employment contract, which must be accompanied by a written statement detailing the conditions of employment. This process must be completed within a maximum period of 7 days from the date of hire. When starting your job, it is important to establish an initial period to evaluate performance. In most cases, skilled jobs have a trial period of six months, but in technical, executive, administrative and management positions, with salaries exceeding twice the national minimum wage, this period could extend up to one year.

Contract agents: This type of contract is issued for workers who perform manual, administrative or support tasks. Usually, these are temporary contracts.
